Roaring Creek Township is a township in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 495 at the 2000 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 23.5 square miles (60.9 km²), of which, 23.5 square miles (60.9 km²) of it is land and 0.04% is water.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 495 people, 198 households, and 149 families residing in the township. The population density was 21.1 people per square mile (8.1/km²). There were 279 housing units at an average density of 11.9/sq mi (4.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 99.39% White, 0.40% Asian, and 0.20% from two or more races.

There were 198 households out of which 29.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the township the population was spread out with 21.0% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 29.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 98.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.5 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $40,625, and the median income for a family was $43,125. Males had a median income of $35,795 versus $22,250 for females. The per capita income for the township was $21,725. About 8.7% of families and 9.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 20.4% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
